Preschool Curriculum

At Atlas, we will provide your child with a variety of activities which encourage discovery, exploration, creativity, problem-solving, and lots of communicating and socializing. All preschoolers will be exposed to Suzuki violin music and to others practicing violin.

Healthy lunches will be made available, if enough interest is shown. If you choose to pack your own child's lunch, you will be asked to send in only healthy foods.

Preschoolers:

At Atlas we will provide our preschoolers with a hands-on, developmentally appropriate, theme-based curriculum in order to develop the whole child, socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The first two hours of your child's day will be in French (T/TH) or Spanish (M/W).

Two-year olds:

Our main focus will be on the social and emotional development of your two-year old. We will provide a well-planned variety of activities where the children are free to play, discover, explore, create. Art will include finger painting, collages, and other very simple (and sometimes delightfully messy) projects.

Three-year olds:

Our three-year olds will continue to develop positive social skills, such as learning to share, taking turns, and listening. We will also continue to teach colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and opposites. Art activities will include lots of cutting with scissors. We will stress the process, not the product.

Four-year olds:

This program will focus on Kindergarten readiness. We will review colors, shapes, numbers, and letter recognition. Your child will also practice writing letters, learn to read his name and simple words, and be introduced to phonics. In addition, four-year olds will do lots of fun science projects.

All young children learn through play. Through play, your child will discover cause and effect, develop language, learn to solve problems, and learn to relate to others.
